WORCESTER______Wanda (Kreczkowska) Skalski, 89, of Worcester, died on Sunday, October 2, 2016 in Lutheran Home Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She leaves her husband of sixty- seven years, Henry Skalski, a daughter Eve Lamonda and her husband Richard Lamonda of Spencer, her second daughter Joanne V. Skalski of Worcester. Wanda was born in Poland.
The winds of the 2nd World War swept through Germany and England where she met her husband Henry. They married on December 31, 1950 in Halifax, Yorkshire, England. Wanda came to Worcester from Halifax, England in January 1957. The couple settled in Worcester. She was a homemaker lovingly taking care of her daughters and her husband. She was a member of the Auxiliary of the Polish American Veterans of World War II. Her culinary expertise was well known. Her gardening abilities were amazing. She could grow anything and everything. She will be missed by those who knew her and her large presence. Alzheimer's disease has claimed another beautiful person.
The family wishes to thank the Lutheran Home and especially Michael Goodwin for providing tender loving care to Wanda under trying circumstances. Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's' Research Foundation, (Bright Focus Foundation) 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home will be on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
