Walter J. " Waclaw " Baldowski, 60, of Worcester, passed away after fighting a courageous battle with lung and bone cancer on October 5, 2016 in Rose Monahan Hospice, 10 Judith Road with his family at his side. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Lucia M. (Bennett) Baldowski. He also leaves his brother, George T. Baldowski and his wife Helena of Webster; sister, Irena Bagrowski of Dudley; brother-in-law, Thomas W. Bennett of Worcester; nephews, Richard Baldowski of West Roxbury, Leonard M. Bagrowski of Worcester; nieces, Kerri Ann Bushman and her husband Douglas of Dudley, Julie Anna Matthews and her husband Reyo of Webster; great nephews, Tyler, Xavier and Aaron. He leaves many cousins including Tadeusz Zdonczyk of Worcester, Edward Dobrolet and his wife Donna of Davie, FL and many cousins, nephews and nieces in Poland. He was born in Poland a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Pokuc) Baldowski.
Walter immigrated to the United States in 1965 at the young age of nine. He attended St. Mary's School and graduated from Doherty High School. He started his work career at New England Grocers and later worked for US Steel Company. With his brother George, he was a co -manager at the Blarney Stone and later Highlights at Leicester Airport. In addition, they owned and operated the Webster Wine and Liquors Store for many years. Most recently he worked as a microchip (semiconductor) processor for Allegro Microsystems, Inc. Walter was a faithful member of St. John Church. He drew his strength from his religious faith which provided him the perseverance during his difficult journey. He enjoyed traveling to the beach with his wife Lucia, particularly York, ME and Virginia Beach, VA.
Walter was a kind man who had a great sense of humor and the ability to make everyone feel welcome. He was generous and outgoing and always willing to offer help to anyone who had a need. His good nature and love for life and family will be his legacy to those he loved.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thankyou to the staff of Rose Monahan Hospice and St. Vincent Oncology and Infusion Center, for the care provided to Walter and his family. They would particularly like to express their gratitude to his Oncology Nurse Michelle and Tara at reception for their help and kindness during their visits.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home will be on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7 :00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to St. Mary's Schools, 50 Richland Street, Worcester, MA. 01610
