WORCESTER____ Richard H. Markiewicz, 87, of Worcester passed away Saturday, September 19, 2015, with his family at this side in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 378 Plantation St. He is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Patricia A. (Corrigan) Markiewicz. He also leaves two sons, Richard Markiewicz and his husband Ralph Ritacco of Pompano Beach, FL, Paul Markiewicz and his wife Laurie of Worcester; step-daughter, Barbara Senior and her husband Mark V. Sr., of Worcester; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife, Teresa (Pietrewicz) Markiewicz; son Thomas Markiewicz, brothers, Steven, Walter, and Edward Markiewicz and sisters, Bernice, Helen and Jane Markiewicz. He was born in Worcester, a son of Stanislaus and Antonina (Lejwoda) Markiewicz.
Mr. Markiewicz was a mill wright at Wyman Gordon Company, Worcester for many years prior to retiring. He was a World War II veteran serving with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a longtime member of the St. Mary's Boosters and Sacred Heart- Saint Catherine of Sweden Church and formerly Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid baseball fan.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September, 23, 2015 from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart-Saint Catherine of Sweden Church, 600 Cambridge St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home will be on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart - St. Catherine of Sweden Food Pantry, 596 Cambridge St., Worcester, MA 01610
