Richard A. Yosca of Worcester, MA, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus.
Born in Manhattan, NY he was the son of the late Rosario and Marie (Villella) Yosca, and dear brother of Robert Yosca and wife Gail of Marlborough, and his beloved sister Barbara (Yosca) Usewicz and husband Richard of Hopewell Junction, New York.
Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy from high school and served from 1951-1955. He graduated from St. John's University, Queens, NY and earned a B.A. in English. He had been employed for over 20 years as a head usher for St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York and retired to care for his loving parents. A parishioner of St. Peter's Parish, Worcester Richard also devoted time to many Catholic churches within Worcester praying for others in need as well as practicing the love of his faith. He enjoyed reading American and military history, inspirational religious books and watching old movies.
Besides his siblings he is survived by his nieces, Janelle Yosca, Mary Talbott, Susan Decker, Carolyn Montenegro and nephews, Daniel Yosca, Richard Usewicz, Joseph Usewicz, Edward Usewicz, Douglas Usewicz, and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday June 12, from 3:00 - 6:00 PM in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, Worcester. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 13 at 10:30 AM in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main Street Worcester. Burial will be on Tuesday June 14, in St Peter's Cemetery in Poughkeepsie, New York. In lieu of flowers, Masses in Richard's memory may be offered through the Oblate of the Two Hearts, c/o The 101 Foundation P.O. Box 151 Asbury, NJ, 08802-0151.
