Michalina (Ziobrowska) Slodowicz, 88, of Worcester, passed away on Monday June 22, 2015 in St. Vincent Hospital. Her husband, Ireneusz Slodowicz died many years ago.
Her daughter, Krystyna Ochap died in 2006.
She leaves a son, Andrzej Slodowicz in Poland; her caregiver and former son-in-law Kazimierz Ochap of Worcester; six grandchildren, David, Andrew, Rafael, Monika, Kasia and Beata, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Borowa, Poland a daughter of Andrzej and Matylda (Dudek) Ziobrowski and lived in Krakow for many years before coming to Worcester in 1989.
Mrs. Slodowicz worked for a commercial bakery co., in Spoldzielnia Cukiernicza Krakow for many years. She was a member of a Folklore Dancing Club in Poland. She was also active in her church there and for many years helped prepare the children receiving their First Communion for the sacrament. It was at the church that she would occasionally visit with Cardinal Karol Wojtyla who would become Pope and later Saint John Paul II.
The funeral will be held on Friday June 26, 2015 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10:30 A.M. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday June 25, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
