Mary Velma Phyllis (Caisse) Hickory, 84, of Worcester died Thursday, September 24, 2015 in Lutheran Health Care. She leaves two daughters, Pamela Johnson and her husband Paul of Jamesburg, NJ, and Lisa Hickory of Worcester; two granddaughters Rachael Johnson of Jamesburg, NJ, Rhiannon Warren and her husband John of Jersey City, NJ, a grandson Luke Johnson and his wife Lauren of North Brunswick, NJ. She was predeceased by a brother William Caisse. Mary Velma Phyllis was born in Boston, a daughter of the late Armand and Bernice (Barton) Caisse and has lived in Worcester most of her life.
Mrs. Hickory was the Head Clerk for the City of Worcester Water Department and worked there many years before retiring in 1994. She was a graduate of Worcester Business School. Mary was a member of Sacred Heart-Saint Catherine of Sweden Church. A devout Catholic, she was a member of the charismatic renewal. She enjoyed playing the ukulele, guitar and bingo, as well as, traveling to the beach. She won an award from the Sons of the American Revolution for an essay she had written.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 with a Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart - Saint Catherine of Sweden Church, 600 Cambridge Street. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Calling hours in the DIRSA - MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street are MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
