June A. (Davis) Power, 83, of Worcester, died May 19th after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. Her husband, the late Thomas J. Power died in 2010.
June was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Ann L. (Rice) Davis and Emory M. Davis. She was a graduate of North High School, class of 1947 and the Worcester School of Business Science in 1951.
Mrs. Power worked as a medical secretary for many years at various orthopedic practices throughout the city. She also worked at Blue Cross / Blue Shield as a service representative for Worcester County for over 10 years before retiring in 1986. She was a member of the National, State and Local chapters of the Medical Assistant Association and was Treasurer of the State Chapter and President of the Local Chapter of this organization.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband. Together they visited a great deal of the United States. They also loved spending time with their extended families.
She leaves behind her niece Cathy LaBonte and her husband Chris of Southbridge and their daughter Allison of New Orleans, LA, her niece Denise Carraher and her husband Richard of Worcester and their children Meghan and Michael. Her nephew Stephen Johnson of Brookfield and his son Joshua. Her nephew Paul Gilrein and his wife Andrea of Shrewsbury and their daughter Alyssa. Her niece, Stephanie Trainor of Cherry Valley. She also leaves behind her God – daughter Trudy Cahill and her husband James of Spencer and their children Katelyn and Ashley.
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Galica for his care and friendship for many years and Dr. Venu Bathini of UMASS Medical Center.
The funeral will be held on Friday May 22, 2015 with a Mass at 11:30 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St. The family asks that those attending meet directly at church. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
