Joseph Magdis, Jr., 78, of Auburn passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara A. (Nugent) Magdis. He also leaves his two sons, Joseph P. Magdis and his wife, Catherine of Charlton and Jeffrey J. Magdis and his wife Stephanie of Beverly; a brother Walter Magdzairz in Michigan; nieces and nephews.
He was born in Manchester, NH, a son of Joseph and Stephanie (Glod) Magdziasz, Sr.
Mr. Magdis served in the United States Marine Corps. Afterwards, he worked as a compositor at the Telegram and Gazette for 45 years. He was a member of the Auburn Elks and the American Legion - Tuttle Post . Mr. Magdis was a longtime baseball coach for the town of Auburn. He enjoyed socializing at the Auburn Senior Center. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren. "Mr. Wonderful" was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 9:00am with Mass to follow at 10:00am at St. Joseph's Church, 10 H Putnam Road Extension, Charlton, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Auburn Senior Center, 4 Goddard Drive, Auburn MA, 01501.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL SERVICE, 33 Ward St, is assisting the family.
