Jane E. (Krencisz) Waitele, 90, of Worcester died Monday July 6, 2015 in UMASS-Memorial Hospital, 119 Belmont St. Her husband, Dominic G. Waitele died in 1982.
Jane is survived by several nieces and nephews including Carol A. Desrosiers, Dennis Hasanowicz, James Hasanowicz, Carrie Desrosiers, Amy Glavin and Mark Krencisz, as well as, her two longtime friends, Francine and Smitty, who visited her throughout the years continuing onto the nursing home. She was predeceased by all of her siblings, Edmund J. Krencisz; Genevieve Klucznik, Irene Dziejma, Ann H. Hasanowicz and Marion Rzucidlo. Jane was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Andrzej and Weronika (Szepietowski) Krencisz and has lived here all of her life.
Mrs. Waitele travelled extensively throughout Europe, visiting Poland more than 12 times. In her travels she met with Pope now Saint John Paul II on two occasions. Once in Poland while he was Cardinal of Krakow and once in Rome after he had been elected Pope. She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. Jane was an accomplished violinist and would play for servicemen during WW II at the U.S.O. and the Worcester Defense Hostess Club. Jane did volunteer work for 16 years at the former Belmont Home. She was a graduate of Worcester Girl's Trade High School and was a certified nurse's aide. Jane worked as an assembler at the former Rexnord Co. in Auburn for many years prior to her retirement in 1982. The family would like to thank the staff of Christopher House for the love and care given to Jane during her time there.
The funeral will be held on Friday July 17, 2015 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. with a Mass at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. A calling hour will be held in the funeral home on Friday July 17, 2015 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
