WORCESTER____ Jane (Adamowicz) Hajko, passed peacefully at St. Mary's Health Center in Worcester on April 27, 2015, surrounded by her family. Jane was born on June 17, 1924, daughter of Rose and Alec Adamowicz in Leicester, Massachusetts. She attended school in Leicester and went to graduate from Salter Secretarial School in Worcester. Jane went on to work for The Day Brothers, Wyman Gordan Company, Holy Cross College and Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. She married Charles V. Hajko on November 11, 1945. They raised their family in the house they built together on Electric St. In addition to raising for children, they cared for a number of foster children through the 50's and 60's. Jane and Charlie were dedicated to all their children. They often travelled to visit them throughout the country. Jane enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting, especially for her grandchildren. Residing at St. Mary's Health Center for the past 10 years, Jane fought a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. While she was there, she was treated with compassion and dignity. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at St. Mary's for their dedication and service. Jane was predeceased by her husband Charlie, on October 29, 2014 brothers Stanley and Teddy and her grandson Adam. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Tucchio (Edward ) of Stonington, CT, JoAnne Childs of Yarmouthport, MA, and her sons Charles Jr. of Maryville, TN and Steven (Missy) of Brimfield. Also nine grandchildren, Jenna and Lisa Tucchio, Charlie, Jeffrey, Justin, Valerie and Sara Hajko, Trevor and Kaylyn Hajko. She is also survived by her sister Helen Alisch. Jane touched the lives of many and will be sadly missed.
The funeral service will be held following visiting hours on Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. Private burial will be in the National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or St. Mary's Healthcare Activity Fund, c/o 39 Queen Street, Worcester, MA 01610.
