Irene H. (Hutcheson) Jeznach, 90, of Worcester died peacefully on Saturday March 12, 2016 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home after a courageous battle with cancer. Her husband of 60 years, Chester F. "Frank" Jeznach died in 2008.
She leaves five children, Gail Ashey and her husband Ron of Worcester; Dr. Gary Jeznach and his wife Patricia of Sturbridge; Nancy Bauer and her husband Ed of Leicester; Sherri Jeznach of Leicester and Jeffrey Jeznach and his wife Kristen of Shrewsbury; twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister, Edna Abbascia and her husband Carney of Shrewsbury and many nieces and nephews. Irene was born in Clinton a daughter of Charles and Isabella (Rourke) Hutcheson and has lived in Worcester for most of her life.
Mrs. Jeznach was a graduate of Worcester Commerce High School. She worked at Kresge's, State Mutual Life Assurance Co., and was a lecturer for Weight Watchers. Irene was known for her artistic abilities through her oil paintings, crafts and cake decorating. She took the most pride in being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed holidays with her family and "girls weekend" at the camp. Irene recently moved to Assisted Living and once there reconnected a 60 plus year friendship with her friend and bridesmaid Dolly. Mrs. Jeznach was a longtime member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.
Special thanks to Dr. Annie Abraham who kept Irene healthy for about 30 years. Also Dr. Sarah Hughes who Irene considered to be like "one of her children" and who offered much compassion along with Irene's treatments.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday March 16, 2016 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10:30 A.M. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday March 15, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
