Czeslaw Kawalec, 89, of Worcester, died peacefully on Sunday July 5, 2015 in his home with family by his side.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wladyslawa (Bialonozka) Kawalec, a son, Mark M. Kawalec and his wife Patricia of Michigan; a daughter, Wieslawa Filreis and her husband Jon of Arizona; three granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Kozielmiki, Poland a son of Franciszek and Rosalia Kawalec and was raised in Poland. He was a veteran of the Polish Navy. He came to Worcester in 1961 and became a U.S. citizen in 2005.
Mr. Kawalec was family man who worked most of his life supporting his family. He was a mechanic/welder at Parker Metal Co., for many years and retired in 1995. He was always willing to help anyone who asked for or needed help. Czeslaw tackled all projects including doing custom work on cars and motorcycles and numerous home projects including kitchen remodels, plumbing and painting. He enjoyed fishing and the beach as well as spending Sunday's at Webster Lake. Mr. Kawalec was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.
The funeral will be held on Thursday July 9, 2015 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour will be held in the funeral home on Thursday July 9, 2015 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Care Network Hospice, 120 Thomas St, Worcester, Ma., 01608.
