Catherine Bania, 92, of Worcester, passed away peacefully Sunday July 3rd, 2016. She was born in Poland coming to the U.S. in 1961 with her family. She was employed as a bookkeeper in Poland, in the U.S. she held various jobs until retiring in 1980. She then helped out with her grandchildren. She loved gardening, mushroom picking and spending time outside and at the ocean. She was predeceased by her husband Mitchell in 2002.
She leaves behind her daughter, Grace and her husband James Heenan, her son Marty Bania and his wife Jane, her grandson Jeff Heenan and his three children Catherine's great-grandchildren Camden, Reiley and Aiden, her grandson Matthew Heenan and his wife Alissa and their two children Catherine's great-grandchildren Avery and Victoria, her granddaughter, Kristen Bania, her granddaughter Heather Wilson and her grandson Jason Harty. She also leaves two sisters Mary and Hanka and her brother John all of Poland, Jola Junak her beloved Goddaughter, her special caregiver Maria and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three sisters, Helen, Sophie and Danka. Mrs Bania was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. Many thanks and gratitude to Summit Elder Care and Knollwood Nursing Center for their love and constant support and care. They are truly our extended family.
Calling hours are Friday July 8, 2016 from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. in HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, followed by her funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen St, 2nd Flr, Framingham, MA., 01701.
