Army Emblem

Armand L. Descoteau, 92, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in the Christopher House of Worcester with his family at his side.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Therese (Auger) Descoteau and their family; Suzanne Desy of West Boylston, Denise Descoteau and Kathleen Hebert of Holyoke, Michele and Timothy Quinn of Worcester, Annette Williamson and Nicholas Laskes of Worcester and Renee McGrath of Worcester and their grandchildren; Scott Desy, Keith and Courtney Desy, Danielle Williamson and Nicole Williamson and Luke Henshaw.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Rose (Richard)Descoteau, brother, Edmond Descoteau, and son-in-law, Peter Desy.
Armand was born in Worcester and graduated from Boys Trade School. He was a machinist working at John Bath Company, Standard Paper Goods, U.S. Envelope, and Worcester Envelope. An Army veteran of World War II, he began his military service in the tank division as an interpreter in France and entertained troops across the European theatre singing as a tenor. Armand participated in the Battle of the Bulge, and received the Chevallier de la Legion d'Honneur from the Consul General de France in 2012. Armand was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Worcester. He was an active member in the choir and participated with fellow church supporters in the 1990's to help keep the church from closing. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hiking, woodworking, square dancing, sailing and time in Camp Ellis Beach, Maine. A handyman with a curiosity for gadgets, he was ahead of his time and often built or wired electronics from scratch. There was nothing he couldn't repair.
Armand's entire family would like to deeply thank the wonderful staff at the Christopher House of Worcester, where Armand spent the last 18 months of his life. Additionally, the family is grateful to the staff of JHC Hospice in Worcester for their guidance and support during Armand's last few weeks.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Armand's family on Friday, November 13 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., Worcester, MA. His funeral will follow with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Paxton Memorial Park in Paxton, MA.
